RULES OF THE COMPETITION
1. The town of Camogli (Province of Genoa), in collaboration with the magazine “Il Fronimo” and the Gruppo Promozione Musicale Golfo Paradiso, organizes the V International Guitar Competition “Ruggero Chiesa - Cittŕ di Camogli”.
The competition will be held in Camogli 17, 18, 19 of September 2010.
2. The competition is open to guitarists of all nationalities born after January 1, 1978.
3. The competition will consist of three rounds:
Preliminary:
a) Two works selected among those in the following collections: F. Carulli, 6 Andanti op. 320; F. Sor, Studi, op. 29; N. Paganini, 36 Sonate MS 84; M. Giuliani, Giulianate Op. 148;
b) a work of the candidate’s choice.
Overall duration: appx. 15’.
Semifinal:
a) One work chosen among: H.W. Henze, Drei Tentos (Schott); F. Martin, Quatre pičces brčves (Universal); M. Ohana, Tiento (Billaudot); G. Petrassi, Nunc (Suvini Zerboni); R.R. Bennett, Impromptus (Universal); T. Takemitsu, Folios (Salabert);
E. Krieger, Ritmata (ed. Max Eschig);
b) Free program.
Overall duration: appx. 20’.
Final:
Free program with an overall duration of 30-40 minutes, including one of the following works: M. Giuliani, 6 Rossiniane, Gran Sonata Eroica op. 150, Sonata op. 15; F. Sor, Sonata op. 22, Sonata op. 25, Fantasia op. 7, Fantasia op. 30, Fantasia elegiaca op. 59; D. Aguado, 3 Rondň brillanti op. 2; N. Paganini, Grande Sonata MS 3; G. Regondi, Reverie (Notturno) op.19.
4. For the nineteenth-century repertoire, the reference editions are those edited by Ruggero Chiesa for Edizioni Suvini Zerboni.
The free-choice works must be original compositions for guitar, lute or vihuela.
5. The following prizes will be awarded:
1st Prize: “Premio Cittŕ di Camogli” of € 4.000, 7 concerts and certificate;
2nd Prize: € 2.000 and certificate;
3rd Prize: € 1.000 and certificate.
Special prize “Ruggero Chiesa” for the best performer, among the finalists, of a 19th Century composition: € 500, offered by the Edizioni Suvini Zerboni;
Special prize “Francesco Desgaco”, € 500, for the best voted by the public, among the finalists;
– Partial reimbursement of expenses for non-prize-winning finalists;
– The Jury may decide to recommend 2nd and 3rd prize winners to concert organizers.
– The prizes will be delivered during the final evening.
6. All applications must be sent to: Comune di Camogli, Ufficio Cultura, 16032 Camogli (GE), and received by July 30, 2010. They must be accompanied by a photocopy of an identifying document, a short curriculum vitae and the receipt of the remittance of the registration fee. The registration fee of € 50 must be remitted by postal money order or to Postal Current Account No. 12168167, to the order of: Cittŕ di Camogli, Assessorato alla Cultura, Premio Ruggero Chiesa.
7. The members of the international jury will be eminent figures of the music world and their decisions will be final.
8. The jury may decline to award any or all prizes or may decide to award ex-aequo prizes.
9. Competitors shall have no rights with regard to any partial or complete recordings that may be made during the rounds of the competition.
10. The exact hour of the drawing and of the beginning of the rounds will be communicated to the competitors in advance.
11. Registration in the competition implies acceptance of these rules.

HOSPITALITY
The participants can find lodgings in hotels or in bed & breakfast at discounted prices.
For those who request it, arrangements can be made to stay in apartments (at reduced prices), according to the order of arrival of the requests, and until all available places have been taken.
